This may be posted in the wrong section, but has anybody tried the program The Bix Fix, downloaded from Major Geeks, its freeware and suppose to fix or let you know any major problems with your computer, I have a dual boot with Windows Me and XP and I have no problems with Windows Me (Thanks to this forum on How to run Windows Me Well) but with XP I just have all kinds of problems with slow connection problems to downloading being so slow it is awful, pc pitstop rates Windows Me on my computer as great, and XP as slow and bad connection, I have all my services turned off as possible, I have no errors on services I have tried every thing and thought I would try this program Big Fix, but wanted to check with this forum to see if anybody has tried this program, I have a clean Install of xp & never get any blue screens, it just runs like a dog. Thanks Sue

I've used it for years. It really doesn;t fix anything, it simply alerts you to any updates your system may need. I don;t run it in the background, I check it occasionally. Hope this helps.

This is a good site for speeding up XP. Xp has alot of eyecandy in it that will tax even a fast PC. This site has alot of info about disabling features and performing tweaks to speed it up.

Thanks I will try it and also the tips although I think I already looked at that site, but will look again.
I have a Compaq 550 MHZ, 512 MB with dual OS Me on C and XP on D 60 GB and both O/S with a clean Install I have nothing of Compaq on it, and am I glad because at least when I have so much trouble with xp I can go to Me, I was going to eventually delete window me but glad I have kept it sometimes I can't even access my mail thru xp so I go to Me and its right there, I probably will delete xp and put Win me on D so I can have 2 o/s one for all my technical stuff and one to play with at least always protecting my C drive. Thanks Sue

Hello Sue,
Just wondering if you solved your slow connection speed problem with XP. I have the same problem on a recent upgrade from Win98SE. If you so, how did you do it?
Thanks,
Steve

I just got a new computer a AMD Athlon XP2600+ 2133 MHZ with lots of memory and now connects at 39.2 to 49.6 so that helped alot but still dial up is just slow as molasas, but I still have 2 years on my contract for dial up and not going to throw that away for a faster connection, I think some is the computer and some is the ISP's fault, think they want you to get a faster service on purpose, because for 4 years I had dial up at 46.666 steady every time I connected day or night, but not after Feb 2003, so they did something to change that, I mean the (ISPs), I did read on the internet that MSN which I have put something in the update files to reduce connection times..I have the V92 and msn does not have v92 connection...but my modem connected faster till I downloaded their update. in Feb 2003
