I have just installed a printer plugin application that will convert any printable document to PDF format. I ran the instal from my XP system which is on my D drive. The installer gave no options for instal directory and It has put the file and folder on my C drive (My ME System drive)
Can I safely drag n drop the entire folder to my D Drive where I would like it or should I leave it alone bearing in mind I may have need in future to format/reinstal either system. If it's important my C & D Drives are separate physical disks, not just partitions on the same disk.

G'day Richard, I would just leave it as is. I know some programs will only go to C:\... and if you move it you could bugger it up. If you have to format one day it won't make a difference as you may have to install it again anyway as it may have several Registry entries and it may throw some files in the system folder as well etc...
But there's no harm in seeing what might happen as it could also be a stand-alone program and may not never need reinstalling if moved to another drive. I would copy it to D: and let the original reside in the Recycle Bin for a spell to see what would happen.
If there are Registry entries you could possably go in there and manually change paths for the program too.
Having seperate physical drives would have no bearing as far as I can tell.
What's the name of the proggie, I might try it out..I have nothing to lose.

Well Richard, if you're still there, I downloaded and installed that program and then moved the folder to another drive. I made a few path changes for the folder in the Registry [4 paths I found pointing to C:\CutePrinter\, now changed to D:]
Unfortunately CutePDF was wise to my changes and refused to do it's thing so I guess for now what you want to do 'ain't on'
But it could still be done I suppose...but not by me...alas. There could be an *.inf or *.ini file for it somewhere too.
