processor fan always running

hello!
i am running windows xp sp1 on ibm thinkpad 390X.
the problem i am getting is -the processor fan is always on and making noise.
there is a yellow light on back of laptop - which is always on. if i remove the power and take out the laptop battery and start again, it is off for some time and then again it is on.
laptop is making too much noise.
i would be really grateful if you can help me with that.

I think you have to replace the fan if it is too loud regardless of if it is supposed to be running.

Processor fans on laptop USUALLY always run, especially on olde models. If the noise is very loud (which is subjective), you may need a new fan assembly.
