Hey guys,
I'm putting together a computer with both new and old parts. My old computer would give me a Process1_Initialization_Failed error when I tried to install Windows, so I thought it was the motherboard, and I bought a new case, video card, motherboard, and CPU (it was time for an upgrade anyways). I used the same RAM, HDD, and CD-ROM Drive.
I put together the system, and I plugged in my Seagate 7200RPM SATA 80GB hard drive (it was previously used in my Apple G5, then my old PC, and now this PC) and I loaded up Windows XP setup. To my surprise, I got the same error message.
I tried a new hard drive (A Hitachi 40GB ATA drive), and I got the same error as well. I tried new RAM (128MB stick of PC2700 pulled from an Apple G5), and that also didn't help. I have also tried a different CD-ROM drive, and I got the same error. Windows 98 loads up setup fine, but I can't test the install of 98 because all I have is a Windows 98 Upgrade CD.
When Setup has loaded all the files in DOS to load setup, and it says Starting Windows, it gives me the Process1_Initialization_Failed BSOD. Microsoft says it has something to do with GoBack, but I have never used GoBack in my life. I'm completely stuck!

Try using a different HAL, when set up says to press F6 for third party drivers, press F5 and choose standard pc for the type of computer .
If the above HAL fails , more here .
