Process running but doesn't show up

Hi everybody.
Recently, I did a big upgrade to my PC. After installing Windows XP SP2 from scratch, one of my favorite registry cleaners, RegCleaner, doesn't open. When I click on the shortcut or directly on the exe file, the mouse pointer changes as "thinking" but nothing else happens. Looking in the task manager, I notice that RegCleaner is running as a process, but it doesn't show up. I uninstalled and reinstalled the program with no success. Today, after several days without trying, I reinstalled RegCleaner and it opened! I thought "great!" but now I'm trying to open it again and the problem reappeared. Maybe changing the process' priority to high in the task manager would solve it? I'm afraid to do that because of the warning that appears when I try to do it. Any input to solve this is highly appreciated.

God damn virus. Yeah it happend to me to but no virus can defeat me ;) open your computer in safe mode, scan with antivirus first of all the folder C:/windows/system32, after this scan, restart and reactivate the computer in safe mode, do an overall scan with the antivirus, after that scan , scan your computer for spywares with any program you have (I extremely recommend bullet Proof spyware and adware).
