Do you even make it to the Windows XP splash screen before receiving that error?
Can you get the Windows advance startup menu?

Yes I do get there. The computer even loads all the desktop icons and then it brings that message " FAILED TO READ FROM THE AC FILE"
And then it shows another message that ..."windows has encountered a problem and needs to close down. Sorry for the inconvenience"... it provides me with three options. Debug;send error report or don't send error report. Which ever option i choose, the desktop closes for about 40 seconds and reappears with the same message.

The error report is.AppName: explorer.exe AppVer: 6.0.2900.5512 ModName: ws2_32.dll
ModVer: 5.1.2600.5512 Offset: 00006a55

Does the same thing happen in safe mode?
If so, boot from the XP disk and run the recovery console. Use the command chkdsk /r.
If not then stat disableing items in startup (msconfig).

What AC file are you talking about? Autocad?
