Dear group:
I like my folders with pictures to be set to thumbnail view. I also like to set the folders "Arrange icons by", to "Auto arrange", and to "Align to grid."
The problem is when I move the folder the settings are gone. The folder goes back to "Detail" view. I know I can go to Tools > Folder options > View > Apply to all folders, but this makes every folder change to thumbnail view.
I don't want all my folders to be thumbnail view, just the ones with pics. I want my other folders to be detail view.
How do I keep my pic folders from changing from thumbnail view to detail view when I move them?
Thanks!
kerry

Make sure you have the Remember each folder's view settings checked and do not check Apply to All Folders after changing the view.
Life's more painless for the brainless.

It appears that you are referring to actually moving a folder to a different directory. Windows by design sets all folder values to default if you move a folder. This is not a changeable function. It is the same for sharing and other security settings. All values go back to default and you need to change the shares and view settings once the move is done.

Hey Jennifer SUMN:
I do have it set like you said. Thanks for the help.-----------------------
Hey rrlyon (aka Richard):
It looks like what you said is correct. I noticed if I have let's say a "pic" folder inside the "My Pictures" folder. And lets say I have the "pic" folder set like I mentioned in my in my orginal message, (i.e. I like my folders with pictures to be set to thumbnail view. I also like to set the folders "Arrange icons by", to "Auto arrange", and to "Align to grid.")
I noticed that if I move the "pic" folder on to the desk top and open it then I see details and not thumbnails.
But when I move the "pic" folder back into the "My Pictures" folder the original settings are in effect again, (i.e. thumbnail view and these settings come back, "Arrange icons by", to "Auto arrange", and to "Align to grid.")
So what you are saying is there nothing I can do about this? That sucks and we have Uncle Bill to thanks for that. Right?
Thanks a bunch dude for the help!!!!!!
