A friends computer was infested with ad ware. I used NAV 2006, Ad-Aware SE, and CounterSpy, with up-to-date definitions in each one of them, to get rid of more than 300 different malware, ad ware and other virus. I ran those programs until I got messages of “no virus or ad ware found” after performing many full scans. HOWEVER, as soon as I plug to the Internet I see a warning globe similar to those from Microsoft popping up from the system tray saying “The system has detected four malicious ad ware. Also Zone Alarm firewall Block Internet access to this computer from 192.168.1.1 TCP port 2869 continuously.
Please help me out cleaning this computer. I’ll accept any suggestion. (I’m starting the get despair)Many thanks in advance for your help

Most Virus and Spyware scans are likely to work better in Windows Safe-Mode.
Blocking Unwanted Parasites with a Hosts File
Also down that page is another method, rather than doing
the HOSTS file, of placing the "DNS Client" Service in
MANUAL (if you are the only user,
and not part of a domain).
Better and easier to do the DNS client thing.
Also that eliminates one svchost.exe process in Task Manager.

You may have to repost your request in the Security Virus forum to get any help on that. They only have one person that I can see that handles that stuff, so you may be in for a wait as I noticed that many questions aren't answered in that forum on a quick note anymore. Good Luck
Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

I think you might find that is a process from your own computer generating that message.
192.168.x.x is a reserved address for home networks. Open a command promp by typing cmd at the start/run prompt then type in ipconfig.... you will probably see that address listed. Also google that port number to see which program would use it. It's prolly is a setting in your firewall that needs ajusted.... You might ditch the norton antivirus in favor of avg free from grisoft.com. It works much better from my experience.

You did not mention whether you had turned off System Restore before doing these scans. Virus's love to hide in that folder as it is protected from all virus scans. Turn off System Restore, reboot the PC then do your scans. Turn on System Restore after the PC is clean.
