Problems Mapping Drives

Specs: Windows XP, Zeon
All of my users have been able to map drives with no problems. Within the last couple of weeks multiple users and myself have experience intermittent failures trying to access previously mapped drive or remap a drive and click on the plus sign to open the shared folder, didn't open. When I tried to connect to the y drive or typed the \\server\shared_folder, I got the message "The mapped network drive could not be created because the following error has occurred: Logon failure: The target account name is incorrect". I have not changed any settings. What is the resolve to this problem.

Usually the administrator maps the drives, otherwise users will have access to the entire domain. Map the drive as admin & create a shortcut. Then give permissions to the users.
