I am trying to upgrade to XP Pro. I have a new, complete, install disk. I am doing a clean install. I get halfway thru prepping for install when I get the following error message - "an error occurred copying file synceng.dll to C:\$WIN_NT$.~LS\I386\synceng.dll data error (cyclic redundancy check).
I can't find any reference to this error message in MS website (??????). Nothing of any value in web search other than an inference that it is of minor importance. Can I safely "skip" this file on installation and go back and add it later? Anyone have any experience with this? Two months ago I loaded another machine with a different copy of XP and had no problems.

make sure the install cd is clean. crc means the file didn't extract correctly.
Usually not a good idea to skip files since they are used during the install.
