I have problems installing (clean installation) WinXP Pro on my Compaq Presario 5900T running Win98 se. The WinXP setup copies all files to my hard drive but when the WinXP installation program tries to reboot my computer it will not boot. All I get is a blinking prompt in the top left corner of my screen. If I then boot manually I get two choices: start Win98 or start WinXP installation program. If I choose the later I always end up with the blinking prompt. I've tried with deleting all partitions and formatting the hard drive. When I then boot with the WinXP CD-ROM the computer doesn't find anything on the CD-ROM that will make it boot. I have also tried to boot with a Win98 boot floopy. I could then access my CD drive and I started winnt.exe in the I386 folder but the installation failed since file "usbehci.sys" was missing on the CD-ROM. Is there anyone that have any suggestion other than the obvious (buy a new PC)?
