I am attemptin to upgrade from 98se to XP home edition and once the computer first restarts to install XP i get an error message about "Line 29 of INF File \$WIN_NT$.BT\winnt.stf" It does not allow me to continue installation. My comp has the latest updates and the microsoft website is not giving me any love. Thanks

in my experiences with your problem, i have had to either/or both change cd-roms or memory, in some cases, i've had to change the cpu, but rarely.

make it a clean install of xp home. b/c for some reason win98 sometimes has problems upgrading to xp home. just insert your xp home cd, make sure the settings in BIOS are set to boot to cd, and perform a clean install. good luck!
