OK I have used this same disk and everything on my dell pc and on my friends compaq laptop. it is Win Xp pro corporate build 2600. I brought it home to upgrade my moms laptop, KDS PIII 800, 128 mb ram, 20 gig hd, dvd/cdrom 24x, Win Me. I upgraded no problems during installation then when I go to boot it up i see the XP pro start up screen then it fades black and stays there and never moves. I can get into safe mode, I went on and downloaded every new driver they make for her computer for XP if not XP for win2000 pro figuring it might help. Still nothing.I need help?????

Why don't you call Microsoft for tech support. Woops, you stole XP and you can't. Sorry.

lol either way, its like $40 per minute talking to the damn microsoft support, and its doubtful they'll be any more useful than the people here.

I'd say its probably a problem with your video card. If you have a spare video card (older one?) replace it and try it, if it works then its definately it. But either way, you'll have to make sure you have the latest drivers for it.

Actually, I have the same prob on my PC. Just after the XP starting screen leaves, it was haulting. I tried everything lik eyou did, and finally one time just sat there after it halted, and thought to myself wtf, and after about 2 min, it proceeded into windows. Every boot it does this, with no problems whatsoever when it enters windows. I'm stuill trying to find info on fixing it. Have you tried leaving it for 5 min or so just to see if it does eventually load up? Let me know, as I'm curious to solve this problem too.

I have the same problem I have installed xp pro 16 ways and still at the boot screen. It seems like it starts then goes to a blue screen with a cursor. I let it sit for 12 hours. So NO it will never boot. Is the vid card the real issue here?? I have a riva tnt2 AGP on a PIII 750, 750mb ram. I just upgraded the bios just don't feel like re-installing if the card is really the issue. (oh took all the pci cards out for install too!)

Anyone please, I still can't get XP to load. Through upgrade or Dos. It seems to be finished and when the puter reboots a lovely baby blue screen and nada.
