Ok so my friend is trying to do a fresh installation of Windows XP PRO. When he does it afterwards his old files are still in the local disk. So my problem would be what the hell is goin on, shouldnt everything be gone? Also we try to delete the partition but whenever we do it gives us something like There are temporary setup files and wont be able to delete it. Oh when it goes to the partition screen it gives me other unknown space as well as the original one. My friend has an Insignia comp from bestbuy. Please help this is buggin the crap outta me.

when booting from the cd, you should see a menu soon or later saying which drive u want to install xp on. theres also a option for u to delete eveything on that drive and u are suppost to select that

you may want to debug the hard drive. that for sure will wipe out all partitions and you can start afresh.
if you are interested and willing I will post back the debug script but you need to boot to Dos in order to do that. you can create a boot diskette in order to do that.
