Problem with wsock and memory

I seem to be having a weird problem. Every once in a while, I notice in the Task Manager that there is a process running called wsock32.exe. Whenever it runs, it takes up an extraordinarily amount of my paging file, like over 1 GB! I can End Task on it and it frees up hundreds of megs of my paging file as I can see in the Performance of the Task Manager. I've scanned my computer for viruses using Symantec's online check and it didn't notice anything. Does anyone know what this wsock32 is for? Thanks!
You may want to try "The Cleaner" at the link below which has a 30 day Free trial period to get rid of it.

Well, strangely enough, I've ran The Cleaner and it didn't come up with anything for that file. I've tried it several times. After checking out that website, the registry revealed that there was only 2 out of 5 of those keys that were set. I deleted them, but the program keeps coming back.
It manages to disable my Norton Antivirus and close the Cleaner program.
Does anyone recommend just deleting this file?
Thanks!

Nate, I'd delete it and leave it in the Recycle Bin for a few days to see if any problems occurr. You may have to open Task Manager (Alt/Ctrl/Del) and End Process on it before you can delete it if it indeed is running. That should re-enable your Antivirus Programs again. That file is not a viable Windows XP file as I don't have it on my XP (Home Edition).
