Hi I had to get my laptop fixed and just received it back today. Originally there was my account and I was the admin. My sister also had a limited account. When I got it back a new admin account had been created called Owner (this is the one I want to remove) my account had been changed to limited and my sisters also to admin. I assume this was because my sister and mother have similar names and thought the laptop belonged to my mother. Anyway I fiddled around with it and changed my account to admin and then changed the owner account to limited when I couldn't delete it as an admin account. This also didn't work and both times I received a message saying 'permission denied'. After this I tried installing Ad-aware pro instead of the personal edition put back on here for some unknown reason and I was told that the owner account was the only one able to remove the personal edition. So I attempted to change the owner account back to admin but I got 'permission denied' again. Basically I wanna get rid of this account and be able to do whatever i want with mine as it was previously. I hope someone can help me. Also I can't install any programs either. I'm told it has to be done by the computer administrator and I'm the only one. Also note that reformatting is out of the question since clever old dad threw out the disk

I'd take it back to the tech that fixed it and demand that he repair the "damage" that he caused. He made unauthorised changes to the user accounts and you have a right to expect him to remedy the situation.

You failed to tell us the reason(s) why you had to get your laptop fixed. What was the problem(s)? The problems with the user accounts are just the aftermath.
