I just bought myself a new notebook the other day (Toshiba Satellite A30), it came with windows xp home but I need to run xp pro for IIS etc. When It gets to the installation part of the upgrade the computer stops responding.

When it asks you to upgrade or full installation, click on full installation and it will install the full version of xp pro on your system. If you have been running on your home edition for a while how do you know that it is a perfect system to upgrade from so it is better to do the full install from the disc.
