Problem with Thunderbird

I have a client with Thunderbird as an email program. TB is extremly slow, the progess circle spins for 3-5 min befor the program can be used. I have run Spyware and virus scans and the system is clean. I have deleted the inbox in the TB user folder, it recreated itself and still it's slow.
Personnely I would rather wait 3-5 minute then use that Outlook or OE but then I do not want spyware and trojan installed on my computer.

I had the same problem. I finally, by accident, found the problem by un-installing A3S Firewall. Bingo every is normal. Prior T-Bird & Firefox would be reeaalll slow coming up and using 90-97% of the CPU. Now I have Comodo Firewall and all is well. If you don't have A3S then shutdown your firewall. It might help you diagnose the problem.
