Problem with system restore.

Hi all. I had a corrupted MBR and cleared it by running the recovery disks. Everything seems to be working just fine except that I can't get system restore to run no matter what restore point I choose. I also tried to run in safe mode but again I got the unable to restore to restore point message. Can anyone give me a clue what's happening. I'm not thinking too straight as I was fighting my computer untill three thirty. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks Stewart
