Hi, I tried to install Norton Partition Magic in my PC.When I run the program I am getting an error message "Init Failed:Error 117" "Partitions Drive Letter Cannot be Identified" And when I click "OK" the program exits.But I am able to partition using "Acronis Partition Magic".But some other partition softwares also give me some error message and the exit. I tried "PARTINFO" tool and it showed "Disk Error,Disk Geometry Error,Partition Error". Please take a look at this Screenshot... http://img132.imageshack.us/my.php?... How can I solve this problem? From a website somebody gave me a solution that ...first turn off the windows Disk protection and then reboot and delete the partition and then repartition it.Then I tried the "Microsoft Shared Computer Toolkit" to turn off windows disk protection but it gives me an error message that "The Computer doesnt support Disk Protection!"...

apparently the last 2 partition messed up in being created. In the picture look in the lower plane and in the last partition it should have read that the partiton started in sector 1 not sector 5 What this means is that the identifying extended boot record that is installed prior to each partition to identify each partition was written in the wrong sector. This was probably caused by a bad sector that was not tagged before the partition was created. Back up everything as there is a possibility that you can mess up all the disc and will have to reformat and reinstal. You have to remove the last 2 partitions in order to clear it up. Then run disc checker to repair the bad area and or tag it as bad so that data will not be written to that area. Then repartiton the raw area to the two previous partiton sizes. well, for me, I use magic partition too, but i use it live from a bootable CD, so try to do so, u may find it easier, and better. :) Haya

What do u mean by remove the last 2 partition? Do u mean delete the two partitions and the repartition it?
