I have a problem I am trying to resolve, but I'm stumped.

Environment:

Windows 2000 Server

Active Directory

GPO assigns security restrictions for a group of users.

Roaming profiles.

Clients:
Windows XP Professional

Problem:

Macromedia Shockwave Player prompts each new user to enter information about themselves, for instance, If under 13 or not, First name, surname, email address, do they want update notification.

The settings for Shockwave player are stored in teh HKCU branch of the registry.

The user.dat for each user is stored in the roaming profile.

The users are restricted from importing registry keys at logon.

The environment is a community learning centre, I have 40 machines and around 500 users who are affected by this problem, additionally, because of the nature of the centre, new users are common, typically twenty per week.

Does anyone out there know of any method I can use to automatically populate the registry without using an import command locally at login time? I don't think there is, but I'd be interested to hear if anyone has any ideas,

Many Thanks

Xscript

Hi,

First of all, nothing is impossible. As a matter of fact, if it relates to computers, and you can think of it, then something similar has probably already been done- especially when dealing with a clearly useful thing.

Based on that premise, I did a search and came up with this: http://www.windowsitpro.com/Windows/Article/ArticleID/40714/40714.html

I'm sure that there are many other ways to do it, such as using a network administration program like Languard or similar...

Good luck,
Larry
