problem with IE7

Internet explorer keeps hanging and the following error is displayed from event viewer

"Hanging application iexplore.exe, version 7.0.6000.16640, hang module hungapp, version 0.0.0.0, hang address 0x00000000.

Fault bucket 686628912."

When you click on the event link you go to the following web page

Explanation
The indicated program stopped responding. The message contains details on which program and module stopped responding. A matching event with Event ID 1001 might also appear in the event log. This matching event displays information about the specific error that occurred.

However when you click on the link on this page it starts talking about internet explorer 6, but i have IE7. Also the updates it talks about in the article e.g. kb918899 is not installed
it says kb918899 update has caused the problem, but it hasn't. The article also says IE6 keeps crashing, but IE7 doesn't crash, it hangs. So there is some misinformation. The information provided by Microsoft about the problem i have is wrong. Does any one know of the correct solution. I have kept the computer up to date, with all the latest hotfixes. But IE 7 is virtually unusable. I can use it for a few minutes, but then it crashes.

I would appreciate any help you can give.

I have exacly the same problem cant figure out what is wrong, iE was hanging before i rebuilt pc, and after, it is hanging on iev6 and 7ie, so i would say there is third party software who is killing ie..

I also had a problem with Ie7 hanging up...would be ok for awhile and then I would get the "not responding" message at the title bar. Usually I would have to hold the off button and force a shut down of the system. So I tried to download sp3 for xp and got a message that I have a problem with my system that is preventing the download. So after several attempts with no luck, I closed out my AT&T Internet Security Suite and tried again and the download went through successfully!! Thought the service pak would take care of the hang ups but again the "not responding" message would appear when I would click anything on the browser...so it finally dawned on me to again disable the AT&T Security suite and when I did all browser pages immediately regained control and processed the click requests! Not sure why the AT&T Security Suite and my browser(IE7) don't like each other, I will need to look into that...but I hope this helps others!
