Problem With IE7

Comment:
I just built this system and have been installing Windows updates, now when I try to open IE7 it just shows up on the screen then disappears, making it impossible to continue updating. The last update installed was a security update for Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 SP1. Uninstalling the update did not help, the problem persists.

I re-downloaded IE7 using Mozilla Firefox (the first time around Microsoft Update was used). That appears to have fixed the problem. I am running Microsoft Update now.
