Hi to all,
I am using an ACER ASPIRE 1605LM notebook under Win XP Home SP2. When I try to hibernate the PC, it will work a few times, then hibernation will hang the laptop and I must switch off brutally.
Any idea will be welcome. Thanks, Claude

Hybernation has been a problem on just about every laptop that I have ever owned... I can't tell you how to fix it (been down that road), but I can tell you that one of the first things I do when I get a new laptop now... is disable and remove the useless piece of trash.

ClaudeB: I don't know if this will work on a laptop, but you can give it a try. Create this shortcut and put it in your Quick Launch taskbar. Right click the Desktop and click on New. Then click on Shortcut in the Context Window that opens. In the window type exactly as shown below with only one space after .exe:

rundll32.exe PowrProf.dll,SetSuspendState

Now click on Next, name the shortcut Sleep or Hibernate then click on Finish. Your new shortcut will appear on the Desktop. Drag and Drop to the Quick Launch bar. Now, just click on the Icon when you want to put your laptop into Hibernation. Like I said, I don't know if this will work, but it's worth a try. Good luck.

Hi Gilloz,

I created your shortcut as explained, and it worked. I'll see how it behaves in the long run.

Many thanks for your kind help - Claude

PS : thanks also to all persons that gave an input to my problem. It's good to see that you are not living in a selfish world !
