This morning I power up the PC as I normally do but not watching it as usually done. I look at the LCD monitor and it is black; not even on.
This PC dual boots and into XP by default so thinking it is stuck on that screen I hit enter and the monitor comes on but is blank.

I hold in the power button for 5 seconds and the PC shuts down. I power it back up and it comes up as it normally does.

However, I now notice my clock is an hour fast. I open it to Time Zone to see it is correctly set at (GMT-05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada)
There is a tick next Automatically adjust clock for daylight saving changes.

I deselect it and the clock changes to the correct current time of GMT-04:00 but of course this is not correct. I leave it at that so the clock is correct.
So, the clock is now showing EST and not DST but is the correct current time of date here.

I did install the DST back in December and thinking a newer one had come out I atttempted to install it in January but it stated that I was already patched. (from MS site)

My question is: Anyone else experience this problem today with the DST patch?

I ask before I go seeking to re-install the DST patch.

Note: On 11Mar my clock did properly adjust for DST and has been correct since until today's funky startup.
Is it my PC or the patch?

Thanks for reading,
Bryan

I restarted the PC after posting above.
Still is wrong but I open the clock and go to the Internet Time tab (I did before too and did not notice the following) but now notice that it shows an error occured synching with "time.nist.gov" so I switch it to "time-a.nist.gov" and hit the Update Now button.

It shows "The time has been successfully synchronized with time-a.nist.gov on 3/17/2007 at 9:25 AM."

My notification area clock then changes to the correct and current time of 8:25 AM EDST.

So, I hope this at least helps anyone else that has a problem time synching using the default Windows Internet time server.

Best regards,
Bryan
