Problem with BIOS

Comment:
I recently installed a new drive (Sony DVD Burner) and it works great. However, now when I boot the computer, it shows the screen before XP longer. I believe this is the BIOS screen,(its where you press a key for setup) it simply shows my PC logo and used to go away in about 2 seconds, now it stays for almost a minute. Any ideas on how to shorten the time it stays there, like when I first bought the PC? Thanks.

go into bios, and disable the auto update or auto check for the IDE drives. See if you can tell it which drives are which.
also, might consider a bios upgrade if it is too much to bear, but in your position, if all is working well apart from this glitch - then i would leave it

It's not a Bios problem. It sounds like the bios is having a problem detecting one of your drives, it might be the new burner. Disconnect it and see what happens. If it's on the same cable as another optical drive, try splitting them up.

Do as Ham30 says. The only thing I would add is make sure the IDE cable is 80 wire. Round shielded cables serve well for UDMA/Ultra ata drive cables.
