Specs: Windows xp, 3 GB
I got an Acer 4736Z laptop recently and its preinstalled with linux DOS.

I tried to install Windows XP then I get the below mentioned error message in the middle and stopped the installation.

0X0000007B(0XF78D2524, 0XC0000034, .....).

Why is this so? Can I get a solution for this?

This laptop has a SATA type hard drive so you need to supply SATA controller drivers at the beginning of the installation. Because you don't have a floppy drive you may need to slipstream those drivers.

Even if you get past that obstacle you probably aren't going to find all the required WinXP drivers for that laptop because they most likely don't exist.

The laptop was designed to run Vista. So Vista or Windows 7 is what you should be installing.

Some of the hardware you will have problems configuring will be Sound and WiFi. Possibly even the previously mentioned SATA drivers.

I have seen this happen twice with an acer. Did you do a full format before you installed xp.

The second time i saw this was because of the xp disc. Maybe try another disc if you can.

firstly thanks for the suggestions.

I tried a lot but i couldnt fix it. Again, I gave it to a local hardware men to install the windows when i bought it. I wonder, how he could install XP on it.

But, when I tried to format it a month later, again the same problem recurred.

Did you buy this laptop brand new with Linux installed. BTW, I don't know what Linux DOS is.

Surprisingly, the Acer site has WinXP drivers listed.

WinXP doesn't include native support for SATA hard drives. So, either the BIOS configures the SATA drive to run in an IDE compatibility mode, or the vendor included the chipset drivers when installing WinXP.

Did you get the CD that you are trying to install WinXP from that vendor to use as a restore disk?

Below is a link to all the drivers for that laptop.

Explain why you were re-installing WinXP in the first place.

yes, I bought a new ones. I suspect some spyware in the system. so, i wanted to format it.
It came with pre-installed DOS. I dont remember whether it is Linux or not.
I was given only one CD which has all the drivers for Windows XP and other OSs.

When you first started to install WinXP did you format the partition first? I assume the hard drive was recognized then?

Did you have any external hardware at all plugged in or connected to the laptop during the installation?

Why did you buy WinXP? The laptop was designed to run Vista/Windows7.
