problem when booting up

strike the f1 to continue, f2 to run the setup utility. When i press f1 it goes into the os but everytime I reboot machine i have to press f1. What causes this problem.

I agree with jefro. You could try reseating the hard drive, reconnecting the cables and plugs. See if your bios is set to auto-detect. Other than that your hard drive is dying or dead. You could try using it as a slave to get your files off but be quick. There is also a freezing trick to try.
