I'm trying to recover information on a portable drive that I have and am having problems. with pc inspector, ZAR and Glary Utilities...it looks like most of my recovered files are jibberish for at least the names...not that I've tried opening them. I'm going to continue working with pc inspector and possibly Glary Utilities to get those files back to working order. When the files are "recovered" they are in a different format when I open them or files I haven't seen before. Also, with Glary Undelete I'm able to select files to undelete them but I don't see the option of actually following through and recovering them...like a recovery button or something. Is there a better program I can try or am I just doing something wrong???

I have used this before and find it better than PC Inspector...

It doesn't install, just run the exe file. I have found that it works best if you recover the files one at a time and of-course save the recovered files to a different drive.
Hope you are successful in your quest! Its very frustrating to lose files this way.

I use the program Advanced File Recovery, it recovers from all types of media, never had problems with it.
