I have a problem playing any type of video on any type of media player ( WMP, Real1,DivX, etc), the file opens normally but you CAN'T see the video but bear in mind that you CAN hear the Audio.
My display card is an ATI Rage Mobility with 8MB and a TV out socket. I have the same problem with windows 98.
this came to me while I was posting, I recently added 128megs of RAM, could the RAM be incompatible with the display card (thought if that was the case the machine wouldn't boot up altogether)

yeah, it's a codec problem. One time I couldn't run certain divx movies (no video, only audio)...but after installing new divx codecs, everything's fine
The thing is it's not just DivX, all video formats/compression modes can't be veiwed only heard.
As for codecs, I'm not sure where to get updated ones. I thought that real player and Windows Media Player prompted you to download codecs when you need new ones.
