I went out and bought a athlon 64 3500+ abit av8 pro 512 dual channel pc3200 ram, 120gig 7200 rpm maxtor hard drive. I installed the boot drive or whatever it is (as u can tell its my first system ive built) and it told me to put in my winxp install disk and restart to continue installation, Ok so i did that but when its booting from the disk i get the error back "ntldr is missing press ctrl alt del to restart" im not reinstalling my OS or using a hdd with a Os already on it..i jus cant get it to load my damned winxp pro boot disk so i can install it for the first ..the quicker the help the better.
thanks in advance aaron

It sounds like it is still trying to boot from the HDD before it sees your XPCD.
It it saw you CD it would have given you the option to boot from CDROM or HDD and then you would have chosen CDROM.

So....Enter the BIOS setup screen on bootup and go into your Boot order menu and set your CDROM as first boot device and HDD as second boot device and the your 3.5 floppy as your second boot device. Save the changes and then exit. You PC should reboot and this time is should see you XPCD.

Good Luck.

Did you press the any key when asked to do so? You need to press a key to boot from the XP cd.

it does not tell me to press any key to boot from the cd.. All that happens is i put in the disc restart my comp and its says booting from cd-rom or somthing similiar but before it does anything else i get that ntldr is missing therefore i cannot do the recovery console thing i personally think it is my cd. SO while im waiting on replies ill head to the store and buy a copy of windows xp home see if maybe that will help....
again, thanks for the help i truly appreciate it -aaron
