Problem in opening Windows XP in my computer

Specs: Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 , 1.0 GB
My Computer configuration is:
1) Pentium 4
2) Ram 1 GB in two slots ( 512 MB + 512 MB)
3) HDD drive is 80 GB
4) Windows XP Service Pack2
I have just formatted my drives and installed XP service pack 2. While installation of XP service pack 3 it got not installed, but service pack2 installed fine without no disturbance .

My problem is that:-

Now when I am trying to open my XP my computer is going hang in the intro period and not proceeding further.

Can any body please clarrify me how to get rid of this problem?

You didn't state how you're doing it, but you should get SP3 directly from the Microsoft website, not thru Windows Update:

You may want to create a new XP disc with SP3 slipstreamed into it. For that, you'll need a program called nLite:
