I for some ungodly reason, when I try to delete certain incomplete MP3 downloads from WinMx that are stored in the shared music folder, it makes copies. I have copies of copies of copies of these 10 or 12 original files. PLEASEEEEE HEELLLLPP! I have ran a virus scan and nothing turns up. Please, anyone, I have posted on 4 different sites, and never get an answer!

Reboot and make sure WinMX did not start with WindowsXP. (never should anyway) Delete the incomplete files.

I believe most WinMX users have this problem because the program is running and those "incomplete" mp3s are still in use by the program. There's not a program that will let the user delete a file while it is using it. Again, do not let any P2P program start with Windows.

You generally need to cancel and delete the downloads from within the WinMX program to get the incomplete files in the MyMusic folder to dusappear. Sometimes, if there is a stubborn file that refuses to allow you to delete it, try cutting and pasting it to the desktop and then deleting it from there.

Also if you start in Safe Mode you can delete them because they will not load (press F8 during boot)

This one has been aired before by me, in the end it was easy to delete these rogue music files. (No one could help.)

After a lot trying here's what i did I opened WinMx then asked it to load incomplete files, when they came up I just right clicked it choose delete and it went; did same to all i had and got rid of the rogue files. I then made sure any new ones went into a folder I made, untill I thought it was safe to use the standard way.

I hope this helps you if it does let us know and then you can help some one else in the future.
cheers!

Thanks everyone..I had already deleted them from WinMx. That's what was stumping me. I did however finally figure it out, for some reason if I used the control key to select many files and then delete, it made copies. When I went in one by one and deleted them (took forever, there were almost 300 copies!) then they deleted without making a copy.
