Hi,wonder if anyone can give tips on whether I can try something or whether my laptop is just plain broken!
My internet connection no longer works. I've got wireless connection to Tiscali broadband. Laptop been working fine, suddenly cannot find wireless network. I rand Tiscali support who troubleshot for me. Light on router is green and Tiscali say all ok on their end. Also he got me to plug ethernet cable directly into laptop and still cannot connect (IE or Firefox). Tiscali say broadband is fine, just my laptop doesn't work - probably issue with 'internet adaptor'. Any idea on how/if I can get this working again?

I'm not at my laptop currently but I did basic ipconfig with the technical support guy. At that time Connection Specific DNS Suffix was blank, IP Address and Subnet Mask had ips and Default Gateway was blank.
I'll do the /all and paste it here once I manage to get back to the laptop.
Thanks.

Gateway and DNS being blank are wrong. Check your tcp/ip properties and see if configured for dhcp or static.

If dhcp this would indicate a problem with the isps modem/dhcp server. Its not giving you all of the information. No gateway no internet access. No dns = no name resolution.

XpUser4Real - thanks, I'll try those tonight.

I connected directly through the ethernet cable for the above ipconfig as wireless cannot find anything (previously have had Excellent signal from my broadband and finds a couple of neighbours WiFi too). Even though the internet will not connect, when I used the ethernet cable I got 'Local Area Connection - Limited or no connectivity'. Checking the status the duration status timer was ticking away as normal, Speed 100Mbps, Activity Sent moved up to 53 Packets and stopped but Received never went above 0.
