Prints Test Page Only

I have an Xp PC connected to an HP Deskjet 1120c via a parallel interface. The printer will only print test pages completely. Any other print, web page, notepad, Open Org Writer, Wordpad, Open Org Calc, Finale Songwriter, Autocad goes through the motions, feeds paper, moves the printhead appropriately but will not put ink on the paper black or colour. Test pages are complete in living colour and black. Someone please tell me what is going on? I have deleted the printer, rebooted the PC and installed the driver again with the same results.
