Hi All

I also have this exact issue. It has occured for no reason known to me since 2 weeks ago.

Note that yes: if you copy and paste into a word document you can often print (not always.. specifically any images included in emails), however this is not what I would consider a solution, rather a workaround to try to help survive the real issue. I, like many other people in a business environment need to print quickly and efficiently from Outlook and Internet Explorer many times a day.

To date, there seems to be no assistance for this issue available on the net that I can find (other similar and much older issues are registered but do not seem to be the same problem).

O/S is Windows XP SP2. Issue started with IE7. I upgraded to IE8 in the hope it would help - but it didn't. I have serveral different network and local printers at my disposal, none of which will print HTML pages from IE or emails from Outlook (2002 in this instance).

Very Strange. Maybe a bug as a result of specific combination of software and a recent windows or browser update maybe? Who knows. Any help in fidnign the root cause and resolution is very much appreciated!

TragicMagic, suggestion? I use Firefox with a Cannon printer and can print email directly without a WP. Switch to Firefox?

Hi Ed

Again, thanks for the tip, however it won't resolve the core issue. This is a business related query, not a personal one. We use IE as part of our SOE. With me being in control of this envorimment, I at least was able to upgrade to IE8 in an attempt to fix the issue, but I will not be changing browsers completely.

If anyone out there has come across this html printing issue and know how to resolve it while retaining Internet Explorer, then any help is much appreciated. I can only guess it's something obscure, as normally solutions to MS related issues are pretty easy to come-by. I at least know I am not the only person in the world who currently has this issue.

dcurpis - is it still an issue for you? have you had any assistance from anywhere else as yet?

Kind Regards
TM

TragicMagic, sorta 'off the wall' thought, are you set up to print HTML or 'text only'? Just a guess.

Hi Ed
I actually just resovled this issue with some help from another site (more an more reports of this issue are starting to show around the world)

The above problem will occur if you have Windows XP Sp3, Internet Explorer 7 or 8 (seemingly with recent updates) and also have the MS Software Inventory Analyzer tool installed.

Removing the MS Software Analyzer instantly resovled the issues for me.

very obscure!

Thanks.

Hi All

Since I was busy with other issues, I have not had time to read your answers. I apologize for this. The problem with printing is going on the computer at work. Now I am home.

SO on that computer is Windows XP SP3, Internet Explorer 7 or 8, but I do not know if I installed MS Software Inventory Analyzer tool on it.

Monday I will see this, and I will try to apply the solution proposed by TragicMagic. I'll be you up to date.

Thank you all.

Hi All

I managed to solve the problem.
The fault was still MS Software Inventory Analyzer tool.
But this tool was not present in the list of Add / Remove Programs. I do not know why.

I read the information at http://blogs.msdn.com/askie/archive...

I looked for MSIA key in regedit and I saw that in the directory C: \ Program Files \ Microsoft Software Inventory Analyzer this program exists.

I installed MS Inventory Analyzer tool and then I uninstalled from Add / Remove Programs program just installed previously.

Now:
1. I can list in Internet Explorer and Outlook 2003.
2. In the "About Internet Explorer" information is displayed; before it was empty
3. In the "Organize Favorites ..." information is displayed; before it was empty.
4. In the "Print Preview ..." information is displayed; before it was empty.
