printers not in cont. pan, but work

all of my installed printers are available to print from programs, but they do not show up in the control panel->printers and faxes folder. (someone asked me earlier so if this matters, yes i can see the keyboard in the control panel.) as you can imagine this is frustrating as I can't uninstall printers or change the default.

I have a few printers installed: including hp 4050 jetdirect (it has its own IP address), epson usb, two printers that adobe 4.0 installed for pdf stuff, and one apple post script that doesn't exist but i use to make post script files.

i did search for this but came up empty handed.
