Printer Spool errors

Upon trying to install a new printer, I recieve a "Spooler Subsystem App" error and the print spool service shuts down. This was supposedly caused by a lexmark service running on the PC, however I have removed all registry entries and services related to lexmark and the problem persists. One notable querk, is that without anything connected to the computer, upon bootup, it "discovers" a new piece of hardware called "printer". I beleive that this is directly related to my issue and that this virtual printer is binding itself to the spool and/or other system files. If anyone has any input on this I would appreciate it greatly.
