I have two Windows XP Pro machines at home and internet is sharing via a linksys router. I am trying to get these two machine to be able to share the same printer (HP LaserJet 6P) when the printer is plugged into one of the windows xp pro machine. How to make this work? I tried but it didn't work, do I need a hub or a router is fine?

Your router is a hub it just has the added option of a firewall and directport internet connections.
Just a ? do u have a network printer or just a printer that is connect to one of the computers?"Sharing a printer on XP is quite easy. Go to the Printer and Faxes section on the computer that is connected to the printer. It is usually found in the control panel, generally. double click on it... then select the printer-rightclick-and then click sharing. under the options select the "Share this printer" radio button. Give it any share name... doesnt really matter.. Make sure that on both computers have the drivers for the HP 2 recognize the system, this might or might not help. whats the harm in doing it anywaz?. " Restart both systems. Go to the other computer and under the printers section search for your HP printer. remove all other printers. and Make the HP PRinter the default printer by rightclicking on the HP printer and setting it as default... if that doesnt work... toooche.!
CHeers.

A router is fine.
Providing 'File & Printer Sharing' is installed (and working - can u share files ??) on both machines, it should be a simple case of browsing to the printer in the 'Add Printer' wizard.
GoodLuck

got to love da lynksys, programable gui built in hahah!
install file and print sharing on both comps
hook the printer to one. install it as a local printer.go to other comp, add printer, choose network printer
you can browse for the printer thats on the other comp, select it and there ya go!
