Dear Saver!!, A printer (LEXMARK Z31) is setup on an win98 system. A sharing password is set as well. Although another computer on the network with winXP system succesfully installs this network printer it never asks for a password in any stage of the setup. Thus, gives errors when a print job is submitted and never prints! If no password is set for the shared printer on the win98 system, winXP prints to it successfully. What configuration is necessary for printing to a win98 printer(protected with password) from winXP? I really need this since I am using the printer in a school network...
try navigating to the win98 system from xp through "my network places". when you find that pc, try to open it & see if it prompts for password there. then try to connect to the shared printer & enter password if prompted. then try to print to it & see if it works.
