Hi i just hooked up a wireless network in my house. my router does not have a printer connection at the back of it, the printer is connected to the main computer through USB. I got the internet going and everything wirelss in that regard fine, so ther eis connectivity. In the firewall settings for XP under exceptios i selected printer and file sharing o nthe main com pand the one in the basement which is wireless. It prints fine o nthe main computer obviously because the printer is physically connected to that computer. As well ienabled printer sharing and gave it a name of "Epson" o nthe main computer. Now when i go to print fro mthe wireless one in the basement, i add printer, goto network printer, try to put in the sharing name "Epson" and it does nto work. does anyone know what i am doing wrong? how do i set up printer and file sharing??

Do you have file and printer sharing protocol installed on the wireless PC?
When add the printer on the wireless PC and choose network printer. When you click browse for printer. Does it show up? Are bot O.S.'s XP Pro? Do you have the same logon and password on both PCs?

You may need to load the printer drivers on the wireless PC.

Rerun the network setup wizard located in "My network places" again and reboot each machine. Then Make sure your printer is shared on the PC that the printer is connected to.
Then go to the wireless PC and try to add the printer again.

I just tried that too..thats the closest i've gotten. Listen to this..thsi is wierd. if i add a printer on the wireless pc as a local printer by usb and not a network printer and go to the main pc and try to add a network printer there than it sees the local printer that i added on the wireless pc, even tho the printer isnt even physically connected to thta pc

When you added the share name of "Epson" was it in this format
\\maincomputername\epson ?

if i try to do that as the share name it is invalid because u cant have any slashes, it has to be a word, like epson

You stated that you went to the basement computer clicked add printer, selected network printer and entered "Epson" this is where you must enter \\maincomputername\epson
