What make and model number is your printer? Do you have the installation cd that came with the printer?

thank you fornthe reply. the printer model id design jet 455ca mac apple laser writer version .5.1 model 2000 serial # rs232c black and white printer only built 1991. works perfect on my old desk top with parallel ports pc but not at all with the new hook up to lap tops usb ports. I have the old floppy disk but it will not load on the new computers. I just bought this year four new printer cartridges at $80.00 each, this hurts more than the printer loss. Hope someone can help. mac said the panther will not support this printer?

I think I found the drivers for your printer. They are at;

Thank you for the printer driver link. I downloaded the windows xp drivers for the design jet and the computer is trying to send the pages to print but the printer is not responding. I think this is a device problem. The wisard is trying to find what I have plugged into the USB port. I have a parallel port on the printer end and the other end of the cord is a usb port going into the computer. Somehow I think I need a software bridge so the printer reads the usb port as a parallel? I hope I am explaining this right?
