printer problem

Printer works with USB port but not with a parrallel port connection. New cable worked once then after switched off computer and went to print next time it does not work message comes up saying printer is printing but nothing happens. error with communication comes up then it tells you it is printing but still nothing happens. Pleas can someone help thanks.

I wish I hadnt said that. LOL. You said nothing happens. No ink would have printed you a page but with nothing on it.

I had the same problem and still do every so often.

If the printer is connected through the USB port, try unplugging the USB cable from the printer and plugging it back in.

That works for me....I hope it works for you.

Poke through your Event Viewer. You might just be having some sort of service conflict when using the parallel port (maybe old Zip stuff???)....

connect printer to parallel port and reinstall the printer driver and select LPT1 port when prompted.

its the parallel port communication most likely need to boot to the bios and change from ecp to epp or visa versa.
