Printer Not Printing Intermittenly

Printer does not print intermittently. Printer puts itself in "offline" status in control panel. Will print every time in "ready" status. Printer is a Lexmark 3200, OS is Windows XP Home Edition 2002 SP 2, computer is an eMachine T6212. Any ideas of what could be putting the printer to "offline?"
