i have a basic lexmark printer. i recently used an ink refill kit for the black cartridge and it worked great. the problem is the printer stops the print jobs because it say the cartridge is empty even though its full. is there anyway to reset the printer so it will let me print

sounds like maybe the cartridge is plugged up? Did you try priming your ink?
I know I have that function on my Epson.

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

Not sure if lexmark printers behave the same way as HP. I believe that with HP you need to change cartridges or the printer will not accept the refill as a "NEW" cartridge. You therefore need two cartridges to use alternately between refills. ( I do not know this for certain as I've never used a refill personally)

I used to have a signature but it disappeared and I just couldn't be bothered writing another so please feel free to ingore this.

my epson printer has a chip in all the cartridges preventing me from just refilling cartriges. in order for my printer to recognize it as a full cartridge i have the option to either buy new chips, (Cheap but time consuming) or a chip reseter (Expensive and not worth it). i havent tried either, im out of ink for the last 3 months.... but maybe thats what your printer does...
