I can't find the print to file files I created. Where does XP put them? I've searched for *.prn and *.ps. Nada

Not sure about using Print to File, but have read that the Printer Port must be set to
FILE: Print to FileSo I have checked Printer Properties,
then the 'Port' tab,
then in the list of Ports, there is an option to select ---
" FILE: Print to File "I guess that is the way it works.
Thanks, I learned something from you.

Now are you 'sure' those extensions you're looking for are the right ones?
Get into a habit of always saving things 'on the desktop' or in a specific location, and VERIFY it before you save/print your files to text. I for example have a 'printspool' directory in 'my documents' for times when I can't or don't want to print. Also since using linux I've started 'printing to PDF' which really makes life enjoyable. You can get this kind of tool for windows also.
I'd rather have to clean up my desktop once a day, than struggle to find an important file.
I know how frustrating it is.Good luck!

Thanks. But I think that would print everything to a FILE. I still won't know where windows is stowing them.
Or maybe Firefox is hiding them. I'd better check that sly Firefox.
Ouch it bit me. It was in program files Mozilla Firefox.
Type:File No PRN or PS.
Thanks for your help.

Check this directory
C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox

PRN are not files to view per se. I believe the following two articles will help you better understand what is "print to file" and how it work.
