Print Spooler consumes all of CPU

Help! Spoolsv.exe (Print server) consumes 99% of my CPU at all times (even though I have not tried to print anything) . It causes my computer to slow to a crawl. This starts right at boot up. What can cause this?

More than likely a virus or spyware, scan for both.
I don't suffer from insanity, I embrace it.

Try changing the settings for the printer to print directly to the printer rather than spool jobs. To do this, select the Properties for the printer in question, select the Advanced tab, and then choose "Print directly to the printer."

Thanks for the suggestions. I have scanned for viruses and spyware. I am going to re-install rather than spend days trying to track this down. I have long since set my computer up for facilitate re-installation.
