I have a computer which has incorrect printer port settings and makes the print spool crash, which crashes the system. How can i change the printer port settings or reset them without bothering the spooler. I cannot startup windows with spooler and must manually start it after everything has booted up? Does a windows repair install reset these values?

I'm just guessing here as I have no actual idea of a solution but since there are no other replies so far: (if) spooler goes to printer ... printer is connected to port. So maybe if you go to Control Panel, Printers, select the default printer's properties you should find a "Ports" tab which may offer some way out?

Warning: above could be rubbish!

I got it sorted out, it was a little more difficult than that
