Hi Everyone,
I am dating myself by asking about a print screen option we had in dos. The key remains but the function is gone. Can I print screen with xp, if so how would I go about it.I thank you in advance for your help,
frank

In w2k, and maybe in XP, where you press printscreen it put the screen contents on the clipboard.
You can then fire up paintbrush and paste it in.

If at first you don't succeed, you're about average.

Other ways.
Hit the Print Screen key on your keyboard ( or Ctrl + V ) and you have a full screenshot.
If you hold down the 'Alt' key with the Print screen key, you will capture only the window that is on your screen, not the whole desk top.
This sends it to Clipboard, now you can Paste it into Paint ( go to Edit ) or any other Windows based graphics program.
Save as...
Save as type, select JPEG etc.=============================

Frank,
ALT (key) - Print Scr (key) captures the active window. Ctrl (key) - Print Scr (key) captures the entire dsktop. The image is saved to your clip-board, and you can go from there.
In addition, there are many freeware programs that play in this area. Refer to the link below.

Good luck.

If you are trying to print screen from one of your old DOS apps you can create a desktop shortcut to your program, then go to properties - misc & uncheck prtsc under the Windows shortcut keys section. This will restore screen printing from your dos app. (Only prints to LPT1)
