I would like to know how to print from the WinXP "DOS" window to a USB printer, I am taking a "DOS" class and would like to do this at home, I am not on a network.

Now that is a very interesting question. The Dos like screen and background prompt that comes with Windows XP is more another way of getting around Xp or doing this in a text based way in XP then an actual DOS operating system. Remember Dos was done away with in Me and since Windows 2000 and XP still have a way for you to use a Dos based prompt and screen, but you know it might work because of XP. Since there is no Dos I don't believe you can use a usb driver or printer in Dos. But when you open the prompt up in Windows XP you still have the Windows XP environment at work in the background. You'd think you'd still be able to print, just as is. I definitely don't know for sure, but I'm guessing there is a way.

There is no true DOS in XP and the only way you are going to learn DOS successfully is through a 98 boot disk. You won't be able to use a USB port in DOS
